Jamie and Joey met at church in Tacoma. They went to church, church activities, game nights, and road trips together for some time. All the while Joey was “evaluating” her, and she had no idea! Joey's parents kept hearing his schedule for leaving Washington pushed back, and eventually something vague about a "dating opportunity." Due to the combination of bad timing, busy schedules, and miscommunication (an auspicious start!), it came to the last minute he could tell her how he felt. Luck was on his side, because she had been getting wheedled by her sister to give Joey a chance, and she was starting to get interested. Somehow he managed to convince her to start dating right as he was moving to Utah to go to school in December 2017. They kept in touch with videocalls and visits, and Joey was able to come back to Washington the following summer. They went on hikes, to the ocean, and to Tillamook. Jamie worked three jobs and Joey worked on independent study courses. At the end of July, Joey proposed and she said yes! They will be living in the Provo, Utah area where Joey has been going to Brigham Young University.

Joey is working on a degree in computer engineering and has about two years left. He likes computer programming and is branching into electronics and computer hardware. Jamie has a degree in English literature, vocal performance training, and a certificate as a speech-language pathology assistant. She is currently working as an adminstrative assistant to a real-estate agent, a part-time nanny, and she does floral arrangements.

About the symbols floating in the details section above: a kayak represents a first outing they went on in the Puget Sound by Point Defiance (there is some dispute about whether it consituted a date, but Joey has to reluctantly agree that he didn't provide a meal, so...). A Bananagrams tile is for the word game they play. They play other board games, so there is a die too. The rose is for Jamie's middle name, and the laptop represents Joey's hobbies and career of programming (he created this site.) The film and tree represent their shared interest in movies and the outdoors.
